This uniquely custom engraved Python features tight detailed floral scroll engraving with punch dot backgrounds, and checkerboard patterns on the rib stands with standard markings, and a Grumman F4F Wildcat on the right side of the frame. The underside of the barrel is marked "B/G/07" as is the right side of the grip frame. With a red leather bound display case with hardwood trim and brown suede lining. The case lid is marked "TO BRIGADIER GENERAL JOE FOSS/FOUNDER OF THE SOUTH DAKOTA/AIR NATIONAL GUARD/FROM ORIGINAL MEMBERS OF THE 175th". It is unlikely this revolver was presented to Foss personally as he passed away in 2003. Foss, a highly decorated WWII U.S. fighter Ace pilot and Medal of Honor recipient, was ordered in 1946 to form the South Dakota Air National Guard and became Commanding Officer for the Guard's 175th Fighter-Interceptor squadron. After military service, Foss went on to serve two terms as a Republican South Dakota state representative, and was elected Governor in 1955.

Very fine as professionally engraved and finished with sharp details and some lingering polishing marks. Grips are very good with some small dings on the butt and sharp checkering. Mechanically excellent. Case is excellent.
