Description:

The factory letter confirms this rifle was shipped in this configuration (barrel length not listed but round) to hardware and sporting goods retailer Frank Percy in Oshkosh, Wisconsin, on August 1, 1891 as a one gun shipment. It has a blade front sight, notch rear sight, checkered forearm, smooth straight wrist stock, standard markings, and the Rampant Colt embossed hard rubber buttplate. The .22 caliber "Small Frame" Lightning rifles were dropped in 1904 after 17 years of production and 89,912 rifles. Winchester manufactured more than twice that amount in their Model 1890 alone by 1904 despite Colt's head start.

Rating Definition:

Very fine with 90% bright original blue finish, a small touched up patch of pitting on the left side of the frame at the Rampant Colt trademark, and some light scratches. The lightly sanded and refinished wood is very good and has a few small scratches, a chip at the tip of the comb, and a few bruises. Mechanically excellent.
