Description:

Originally manufactured in 1944, and later upgraded to the (T) pattern, which would remain the Commonwealth-standard sniper rifle from World War II into the 1960s. Blade front and folding ladder rear sights (battle sight removed from the latter), with faint Number 4 Mark 1 markings on the left side of the receiver between the scope bases, near a deeply struck "T", "1944" and "TR" on the left side of the socket, and tonnage marks on the barrel near the muzzle. The #24 MkI scope is installed in a mixed-numbered and re-marked mount, with a partial leather lens protector and a set of brass sunshields. The straight wrist stock is numbered to match on the underside of the forearm, with "4814" and "32181 (struck out)" on top of the wrist, raised cheekpiece and an alloy buttplate.

Rating Definition:

Good as refinished, with 40% of the current blue, showing areas of mixed brown and gray patina, along with some bright edge wear and mild spotting. The stock is good, with cracks in the cheekpiece, a large chip forming near the buttplate heel, and scattered dings and dents. The optics are clear, with minor wear visible on the post, and the exterior shows wear and dents. Mechanically excellent.
