This is one of only 50 S&W 20-2 marked revolvers shipped to the Austin Police Department in 1964. The back strap has the police marking: "AUSTIN P.D. 228." It has S&W barrel and frame markings, an importer marking on the butt, fixed sights, Magna grips and a right grip panel numbered to a different gun. The serial number is on the butt. The cylinder and barrel are un-numbered. The assembly number "51280" is on the crane (yoke un-numbered). The yoke has the model marking: "20 2." It is believed that fewer than 100 Heavy Duties were manufactured with a model marking before production was discontinued in 1966. These revolvers are found in the S185000-S263000 serial number range.
