Manufactured in 1889 with blade front and sporting rear sights, the two-line address marking on top of the barrel, "CAL 40-70 SHARPS STR" on top at the breech, ".123 40-70 S" on the bottom of the barrel under the spring, patent date and serial number on the lower tang, and smooth schnabel tip forearm and straight wrist stock with ebony forend insert and steel rifle buttplate.

Good with a blend of gray and brown patina on the barrel, faint case colors and gray patina on the receiver, minor marks and scratches, and some minor spotting. The wood is fair with some chips in the forearm, minor hairline crack in the wrist, and various dings and scrapes. Mechanically fine.
