Manufactured in 1926, Winchester produced only about 25,000 Model 53s from 1924 to 1932. The left rear of the barrel is marked with the model, maker, nickel steel and 44 W.C.F. caliber markings and the right rear has the two-line address. The top of the barrel and receiver are marked with the Winchester oval proof at the breech. Standard three line upper tang marking and the serial number is on the bottom of the receiver. It features a Lyman blade front sight and elevation adjustable notch rear sight, half magazine, plain forearm with a metal tip and straight grip stock with a steel serrated shotgun buttplate.

Fine. 85% original blue finish remains on the barrel with a few visible blemishes and crisp markings. The professionally refinished receiver has a bright almost nitre blue appearance with slight rounded edges, mild edge wear, and surface scratches. The lever has some spotting on the sides. Wood is fine with a coat of varnish and small dings throughout. Mechanically excellent.
