This particular rifle was manufactured in 1889 and features a rocky Mountain German silver blade front sight and an adjustable rear buckhorn sight. The tang is fitted with a short range peep sight. The top barrel flat is marked with the two line address/patent date ahead of the rear sight and ".38-W." at the breech. The serial number is on the bottom of the receiver. Blue finish with casehardened hammer, lever and buttplate, and mounted with a smooth walnut forearm and straight grip stock with a crescent buttplate.

Rating Definition:

Very fine. The rifle retains 70% original blue finish remaining, showing some high point wear, most of the magazine tube faded to a smooth gray patina, there are some areas of minor wear and a very small amount of light spotting. 60% of the original case colors remain on the hammer, 20% on the lever with smooth gray patina on the balance and the buttplate has silvered out and shows much of the casehardened pattern. The wood is fine as freshened with a coat of varnish, showing a moderate chip on the stock toe and overall light handling marks. The markings are sharp and clear. The action is excellent.
