Description:

Only around 11,000 Model 1849 London Pocket Model revolvers were manufactured by Colt in England in 1853 to 1856. The later versions are readily identifiable via their iron grip straps and large oval trigger guards combined with the "{ADDRESS COL. COLT/LONDON}" markings on the barrels and the London proofmarks. This one was manufactured in 1856 and has standard late production markings and features, including all matching serial numbers stamped on the metal components and the matching serial number hand written on the grip in the back strap inlet. The English fitted case has the "DIRECTIONS FOR LOADING COLT'S PISTOLS" label on the inside of the lid, a bore rod, oiler, dual cavity "COLT'S/PATENT" bullet mold, Eley Bro. cap tin, several bullets, a Hawksley powder flask, and a miniature brass field telescope with an image of a boat at a lock viewable inside.

Rating Definition:

Very good with traces of original finish in the protected areas and otherwise an honest blend of dark brown and gray patina and some areas of mild pitting. The fine grip has moderate handling wear, a chip on the right near the toe, and some minor dings and scratches. Mechanically fine. The case and accessories are very good with mostly storage type wear.
