"1883" dated cartouche, "1884" dated breechblock, and Model 1879 sights.

Fine with 40% blue finish, light pitting and oxidation, and dark brown patina; particularly bright blue finish on the trigger guard, dark case colors on the breech, a slight hairline crack at the tail of the lock, a few small dents, and the usual light scratches. Mechanically excellent.

The serial number dates to the first few years of production and is within the pre-Little Bighorn "Custer Range." It has a low arch breechblock and updated Buffington rear sight.

Fair overall with replacement parts, dark patina, mild pitting and oxidation, some small nicks and scratches on the metal, and heavy wear and overall scrapes and dents in the stock. Mechanically fine.
