SPRINGFIELD ARMORY 27758". (Of collector's note, 27755 is a documented Rough Rider 96 SRC, just three digits apart!) Grasping groove stock with a saddle ring on the left side of the wrist, faint original "JLA/1897" inspection stamp, script "P" on the underside of the wrist, and a smooth trapdoor buttplate with cleaning rod.

Rating Definition:

Very good. Strong traces of faded original blue finish remain with areas of light surface pitting and nicks along the length of the barrel, and a mottled blue/brown patina on the balance. The receiver has a mostly mottled gray/brown patina with traces of original oil quenched case colors, scratches, dings, and some light pitting. The stock and handguard set are fine as sanded and reoiled with faint markings, some small chips and slivers, and small dings overall. Mechanically very good.
