Takata & Company served as agents of the Japanese Government for Smith & Wesson orders, with most acquisitions going to the Imperial Navy. Half moon front sight and notch rear sight on latch, with the one-line "SMITH & WESSON SPRINGFIELD MASS. U.S.A." address on top of the rib flanked by Maltese crosses. Matching numbers on the barrel, latch, cylinder and butt, casehardened hammer and trigger guard, and checkered hard rubber grips with Smith & Wesson imprints and a lanyard ring on the butt.
