Manufactured in 1892. The top barrel flat is marked with the two-line address ahead of the rear sight and "38-56 W.C.F." at the breech. The upper tang is marked "-MODEL 1886-." The 1884 and 1885 patent dates are marked on the lower tang directly behind the trigger, and the serial number is at the end. It is fitted with dovetailed blade front and adjustable buckhorn rear sights. The barrel, bolt and full length magazine are blue, and the remaining parts are casehardened. Mounted on a smooth forearm with steel forend cap and straight grip stock with a crescent steel buttplate.

Fine. The barrel and magazine retain 50% plus thinned original blue finish with the balance a smooth gray patina. The remaining surfaces retain 30% original case colors. The wood is also fine showing a number of minor dings and scratches. Mechanically excellent.
