Description:

Manufactured in 1889. The rifle is fitted with a set trigger and globe front, two leaf rear and Lyman tang peep sights. The no. 3 marked half octagon barrel has the two-line address ahead of the rear sight and "32-40" at the breech. No factory record is available to verify the aforementioned features. The lower tang has the serial number and patent date marking. Mounted on a nicely figured straight grip stock fitted with a crescent buttplate. The barrel is blue, and the remaining surfaces are casehardened.

Rating Definition:

Fine. The barrel retains 50% thinned original blue finish (mostly on the front lower half of the barrel) with the balance a smooth brown patina. The remaining surfaces retain 85% plus original case colors. The reoiled wood is also fine with the buttstock showing some light to minor pressure marks overall. Mechanically excellent. .
