11,470 of these Spencer rifles designed for use with the standard socket bayonet were manufactured for the U.S. military during the Civil War. This is the same Model George Armstrong Custer's Michigan Cavalry was armed with at Gettysburg and the same version Lincoln likely fired near the White House before instructing the Ordnance Department increase their orders.
