Description:

11,470 of these Spencer rifles designed for use with the standard socket bayonet were manufactured for the U.S. military during the Civil War. This is the same Model George Armstrong Custer's Michigan Cavalry was armed with at Gettysburg and the same version Lincoln likely fired near the White House before instructing the Ordnance Department increase their orders. Some were used after the war by the infantry before the adoption of the trapdoor, and others were used by scouts. This one has the standard marking and features and includes a socket bayonet.

Rating Definition:

Fair with mottled gray and brown patina overall, moderate pitting, extensive wear visible on the wood, and some faded markings. Mechanically fine. The bayonet is very good and has mottled gray patina and mild pitting.
