Description:

Manufactured in 1861-1862 with standard markings and features, including matching serial and assembly numbers. Many of the No. 2s in this range were used during the Civil War and saw hard use, but this example is extremely good throughout and has the desirable "Half Plate" finish combination of a blued barrel and cylinder and a silver-plated frame. Less than 10% of the No. 2 revolvers had "Half Plate" or other special finishes.

Rating Definition:

Excellent with 98% plus of the aged and beautifully toned original silver plating, traces of original casehardened finish on the trigger, 30% of the flaked original blue finish, and brown patina on the balance. The high lustre blue finish has flaked somewhat on the barrel and cylinder as is common to the early bright polish No. 2 Army Models and other Civil War era revolvers. There are some minor scratches and marks throughout. The original piano finish rosewood grips are very fine and have only minor edge and light handling wear. Mechanically excellent. This is a very attractive representative of the Civil War era Model No. 2 Army with the desirable combination of blue and silver finish.
