Description:

This scarce 1st year (1861), 1st month production Smith & Wesson Model 2 Army revolver has the desirable and rare early two-pin frame and rare 5 inch barrel. The top of the barrel rib has the one-line Springfield address and the cylinder has the one-line patent dates marking. The front of the cylinder face, barrel lug and back strap under the grip are stamped "B8". The right grip panel is numbered to the gun. Blue finish with casehardened hammer and trigger with blade front and notch rear sights. Fitted with varnished grips.

Rating Definition:

Very fine. The revolver retains 75% original blue finish with the balance a smooth gray patina. There is some minor pitting (mostly on the barrel). The hammer retains vibrant flashes of original case colors. The grips are very fine with a repaired chip, a small missing chip near the bottom and some minor handling marks with most of the varnish remaining. The action functions but cylinder does not always lock. Markings are crisp. A rare 5 inch, two-pin No. 2 in very fine condition.
