Description:

The accompanying factory letter lists blue finish and .45 Eley caliber while cataloging the barrel length and type of stocks as "not listed," usually referencing 7 1/2 inches and walnut, respectively. It was shipped to Colt's London Agency on November 1, 1875, as part of a 50 gun shipment. The barrel has the one-line Hartford address on top and two British "crown/letter" proofs on the underside. The cylinder has alternating British proofs between each chamber at the rear. The frame has the two-line, patent date marking, and the trigger guard shoulder is marked "45 CAL/B," all on the left side. The factory letter states .45 Eley caliber which leads to discussion in that the aforementioned mark usually denotes .450 Boxer caliber. Matching numbers are found on the frame, trigger guard, back strap, cylinder and barrel.

Rating Definition:

Very good. Traces of original blue finish and case colors remain in the protected areas, otherwise a smooth brown-gray patina. There is some minor pitting. The grip is also very good with strong original varnish, numerous dents on the bottom, some surface chipping near the bottom and some minor handling marks overall. Mechanically excellent, the bore and cylinder are bright and shiny indication little firing.
