"P A" is also stamped on the cylinder. Additional "A" inspection marks are found on the trigger guard, back strap and bottom of the grip. The left side of the frame is marked with the two-line/two-patent date marking followed by "U.S." Matching serial numbers are found on the frame, trigger guard, back strap, cylinder and barrel. The ejector has a bull's eye head. The left side of the grip has a script letter cartouche. Some of these early revolvers were issued to Custer's men prior to the Battle of Little Bighorn and were issued to other cavalry units fighting in the Indian Wars.

Rating Definition:

Good as restored (see above). The revolver has a smooth gray patina showing some very scattered mild-minor pitting. The grip is fine with a faint cartouche, a few moderate dings on the bottom Mechanically excellent.
