Manufactured in 1873-1890 with "MANUFACTURED BY/MASS. ARMS CO/CHICOPEE FALLS" on the right side of the action and "EDWARD MAYNARD./PATENTEE./MAY 27. 1851./DEC 6. 1859" on the left followed by "1873" and a saddle ring bar. It is the thick rim style. The upper tang is designed to be fitted with an absent peep sight. The 26 inch, .40 x 2 1/2 inch barrel has a blade front sight and two-leaf rear sight and is numbered to the gun. The 20 inch, .35 x 2 1/2 inch barrel has a Beach combination front sight and fixed notch rear sight and is numbered "2347." The 26 inch, 20 gauge barrel has a post front sight and is numbered to the gun. They come in a custom hardwood case.

Fine with 70% original blue finish on the barrel, mild spotting, edge wear, and light scratches. There are traces of case colors on the levers. The frame and buttplate have gray and brown patina and mild pitting. The stock is very good and has some minor scratches and dings. Both of the extra barrels are fine with 60% plus original blue on each one. The case is good with moderate storage wear including some corner separation. Mechanically fine.
