Description:

Less than 500 of No. 7 rifles were manufactured around 1903-1906 with some minor variations. Most were chambered for .25-10 Stevens and the .22 short or long rifle rimfire cartridges. This is only the third .32 caliber No. 7 we have had the pleasure of offering at auction, and it is by far the finest. The consignor indicated this was one of only forty made in this caliber. It has a globe front sight, "REMINGTON ARMS Co. ILION. N.Y. U.S.A." on top of the barrel, a folding peep sight on an integral extension on the back of the action, "P S" and the two-line address and patent marking on the left side of the action, the serial number on the lower tang, a Schnabel forearm with checkering and an ebony insert, and a multi-point checkered pistol grip buttstock with hard rubber grip cap and buttplate.

Rating Definition:

Fine with 30% original blue finish and traces of original case colors blended with smooth brown and gray patina and some light spotting. The hammer and breechblock retain about half of the original niter blue. The hard rubber has aged chocolate tones. The wood is very good and has light scratches and dings and fairly crisp checkering. Mechanically excellent. This is a very attractive and rare rolling block rifle. The No. 7s were among the final rolling blocks manufactured by Remington and are arguably the most colorful in basic design. These rifles chambered in .32-20 are exceedingly scarce and rarely come up for sale. Some references do not even note that these rifles were chambered for centerfire cartridges.
