Description:

The only markings are St. Edward's Crown on the center of the lock, a deep "X" mark and a pair of the cross scepter proofs on the barrel near the breech, a "P" just ahead of the trigger guard, and a "P" in a circle stamped on the left side of the comb. The overall design is closest to the India Pattern used from 1797 to 1854. It has a post-1809 "ring neck" cock. It comes with a "P" marked early style socket bayonet without locking ring.

Rating Definition:

Very good as refinished and likely assembled. The lock plate appears to have been filed down and restamped, and displays brown and gray patina and light pitting. The underside is fairly bright other than some oxidation at the tail, and the internal components other than the mainspring have case colors. The other external lock components, bayonet, and the barrel have darker brown patina and heavier pitting. The sling swivels, frizzen screw, and likely some other components are replacements. The brass has aged patina. The stock has fresh wood under the lock, numerous scrapes and dings throughout, and some vice marks. Mechanically fine.
