Description:

The barrels have the oval Liege proof on the left at the breech. Most guns with this mark are Belgian, but French firearms were also submitted to the Liege proof house since there was no domestic proof house available. The guns have no other identifying markings and features dovetailed blade front sights, fixed notch rear sights (generally a requirement for dueling), fine "micro-groove" style rifling, single set triggers, floral and scroll engraving patterns, German silver wedge escutcheons and thumb plates, hooked trigger guards, checkered stocks with Schnabel style tips, floral carving around the pommels, and shell designed lids for the cap compartment on the pommel caps. They come in a highly figured hardwood case with a French fitted interior containing a mallet, cleaning rod, spare nipples, cap container, combination screwdriver/nipple wrench, ramrod, powder flask and lead balls.

Rating Definition:

Fine with distinct stripe patterns on the barrel and a blend of gray and brown patina throughout along with some minor oxidation and pitting. The stock is also fine with crisp checkering and carving, a chip at the toe, and general scratches and dings. Mechanically fine. The case and accessories are very good with moderate storage wear, including extensive scratches and a crack and repair on the lid.
