Manufactured from 1915-1940, this is a desirable target example of a S&W .44 Hand Ejector Second Model revolver. The accompanying factory letter confirms the barrel length, blue finish, target sights, Call gold bead front sight and standard walnut stocks. It was shipped on December 19, 1934 to Sportsmen Supply Co. of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. It has the high luster blue finish, serrated grip straps, checkered hammer and serrated trigger. Matching serial numbers are found on the butt, barrel, cylinder and right grip panel. The assembly number "2411" is on the yoke and crane. The rare original factory box is numbered to the gun and has the correct yellow end label. Provenance: Ray Cheely and Chad Gripp collections.

Excellent plus. The revolver retains over 99% original high luster blue finish showing a cylinder drag line. 99% plus original case colors remain on the hammer and trigger. The grips are near new with sharp checkering. Mechanically excellent. The box is fine with a couple split corners and some minor wear. Most of the end label remains. This S&W .44 Hand Ejector 2nd Model Target is one of the finest of its type extant and would be hard to improve upon.
