This particular revolver is the .44 Hand Ejector with the very desirable Triple Lock mechanism. It also carries the distinction of being a very scarce target variation in high luster blue finish. Most S&W experts are of the opinion that the Triple Lock mechanism was more an expression of the ultimate in precision machine work than as a necessity for strength and function. The revolver has pinned Sheard front and adjustable rear notch sights, smooth grip straps, checkered hammer, smooth trigger and standard S&W factory markings. The matching serial number is found on the butt, cylinder and ejector shroud. The assembly number "4912" is stamped on the yoke and crane. The factory letter confirms the barrel length, rear target sight, finish and grips. Although the Sheard sight is not listed, the letter states this type of sight was a factory option at the time when this revolver was shipped on September 16, 1913, to Schoverling Daly & Gale Co. of New York City. The unbelievably rare original factory box is numbered to the gun and ink stamped "TARGET" on the bottom. Provenance: Ray Cheely and Chad Gripp collections.

Excellent. The revolver retains 99% original high luster blue finish showing a cylinder drag line and some speckling of brown on the back strap. 99% plus original case colors remain on the hammer and trigger. The grips are also excellent with limited minor handling marks and crisp checkering. Mechanically excellent. The box is very good as having minor repairs long ago. All of the end label remains. This 1st Model Target Triple Lock with high luster blue finish will make a handsome addition to any S&W collection, more especially so being in the original box.
