Description:

According to the included factory letter, this conversion kit was part of a three-piece order for Janney, Semple, Hill & Company of Minneapolis, Minnesota on September 12, 1938, the introductory year for the Service Ace Conversion. Established in 1866 as Janney & Moles, the firm of Janney, Semple, Hill & Company was a major dealer of hardware in early Minneapolis, as well as a wholesaler to points West. Blade front and adjustable rear sights, with "U82" stamped on top of the slide, and in electric pencil on the barrel and chamber, the two-line address and patent marks on the left of the slide, and the model nomenclature and diamond logo on the right. A two-tone Colt Ace magazine is included. The recoil spring plug are absent. With a properly labeled Colt "black box" numbered to match inside the lid, and an original Colt instruction pamphlet.

Rating Definition:

Excellent, with 98% plus original blue finish, showing some light scratches and handling marks on the exterior. The barrel and bushing show wear consistent with light cycling. The box is very good with some tearing, detached internal dividers and stains.
