The included copy of a 1997 dated factory letter confirms the serial number, Target Model designation, blue finish, .44 caliber chambering (listed as .44/c), and shipping date of April 24, 1916 to Von Lengerke & Detmold of New York. Elevation adjustable beaded blade front and windage adjustable rear notch sights. The left side of the barrel is marked "NEW SERVICE RUSSIAN AND/S&W SPECIAL 44" and the barrel address is absent. Features checkered hammer, trigger, and grip straps with American eagle carved mother of pearl grips.

Very fine as professionally partially refinished (barrel and cylinder) with 98% of the blue finish overall, some light nicks and dings, trace of muzzle wear, and a visible cylinder drag line. The custom relief carved pearl grips are very fine with some visible chips at the top and heel of the left panel. Mechanically excellent.
