Description:

Included with this rifle is a hand-signed data sheet from author Scott Duff, who attributes this rifle as "From Collection of Richard Deane, GCA (Garand Collectors Association) Founder and President", and notes it as "Absolutely NEW, the best one I have seen in this s/n range"; as the author of four notable texts on the Garand, that second statement represents quite the ringing endorsement (that is his opinion, we will let the potential buyer make their own conclusion). Blade front and peep rear sights, with a "SA/WH" windage knob, "WC E" elevation knob, and a full set of Springfield receiver components including a "1 56" dated barrel. The stock is marked with a circled serifed "P" on the wrist and a half-inch "eagle" cartouche on the left side, with a green canvas sling and a buttplate compartment holding a cleaning rod, screwdriver/carbon scraper and an oiler. Provenance: Bruce Canfield collection.

Rating Definition:

Very fine, 98% plus possibly arsenal refinished parkerized finish, showing some light handling and cycling wear on the metal, and a few mild dings on the wood. Mechanically excellent. An attractive M1 Garand Rifle, which could stand up in nearly any advanced collection as an ideal representative of the late-production Garand.
