The barrel date is 12-44 which falls into the very last month that M1A1 carbines manufactured by GM. Standard front and rear receiver markings and the serial number (6640469) stamped below the rear sight. The barrel is marked "INLAND MFG. DIV./GENERAL MOTORS/12-44" and it has the "N" marked front sight. The stamped adjustable rear sight is marked "R.I. CO." Fitted with various late-war features, such as the round bolt, a type 3 barrel band with the bayonet lug, type two Inland trigger housing with the Inland logo laying in the normal position, magazine release with "M" on the face and smooth face push button safety. The wire stock has the correct cast in numbers on the back side of the buttplate and a leather cheekpiece mounted with parkerized steel rivets. The stock is the second pattern with the low wood version and a Rock Island replacement pistol grip stamped "RI/3" on the underside and a cross-cannon cartouche on the right side. The stock is also stamped with an "IO" proof inside the barrel channel area. The late production four-rivet handguard is marked "IO" on the underside. With a WWII "IA" stamped 15-round magazine. Provenance: Bruce Canfield collection.

Rating Definition:

Very fine with 90% arsenal reparkerized finish overall with finish loss on top of the bolt body and receiver side rail. The stock and handguard are both very fine with the handguard being slightly darker than the stock body. The leather cheekpiece has a nice dark color overall and is nearly all complete.
