Description:

This is a very good example of an early Johnson Arms Model 1941 Light Machine Gun (LMG). These are very rare items in any condition as they saw heavy use in the early months of WWII and then after WWII most were either sold to foreign countries or just plain destroyed since they were a fully automatic machine gun. They were used by the joint Canadian/American 1st Special Services Force, USMC Raiders and Paramarines. The earlier model worked extremely well in that it was lightweight, used a 30 round detachable magazine, and had a quick change barrel to help prevent overheating during rapid fire. They were eventually redesigned/improved in late 1944 and eventually redesignated as the Model 1945. This early example remains in its original condition. It still fires from an open bolt utilizing the side mounted magazine. It retains its original larger all wooden buttstock and very short forend piece and the heavy front mounted bipod along with the standard weight barrel and the distinctive high mounted front sight and folding rear sight. The top of the receiver is marked with the five-line patent information followed by "LIGHT MACHINE GUN/JOHNSON AUTOMATICS/CAL. 30-06/MODEL OF 1941/MADE IN PROVIDENCE RI. U.S.A", with serial numbered 1025 below that. The top and left side of the receiver is stamped in very small import markings of "INTER AMERICAN/SAC CA". The beautiful LMG comes with one original 30 round magazine. A very rare opportunity to obtain an early example of a highly desirable WWII Johnson light machine gun.

Rating Definition:

Fine with 50% of a fading/thinning dark gray parkerized finish overall. The stock and small forend are very dark in color and show handling marks and light pressure dents on the sides; obviously both are still original. This is a very good example of an early and rarely found Johnson fully automatic class III/NFA machine gun. NOTE: This weapon is a restricted, National Firearms Act (NFA) Class 3, Fully Automatic Weapon, that is registered with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (BATFE) under the provisions of 18 U.S.C. Chapter 44 and 27 CFR part 478. This weapon is currently registered as being "LIMITED TO USE AS A SALES SAMPLE (Pre-86)" and as such can only be purchased by an FFL, with a Class 2 or Class 3 SOT License.
