Description:

A closed-bolt blowback-operated sub-machine gun, the Reising Model 50 saw action with the U. S. Marines in the Pacific as a substitute for the M1 Thompson, though they found their best success as defensive weapons for war-essential industries and as patrol carbines for American police forces. This particular Model 50 appears to be an example of the latter, with the receiver marked "MNPD 035" between the serial number and the selector switch markings; while not documented, this may be a marking for the Metropolitan Nashville Police Department of Nashville, Tennessee. Blade front and elevation adjustable peep rear sights, with a flash hider/muzzle break, cooling fins on the barrel, three-line New Haven address near the ejector port, and three-position selector/safety on the right side. Smooth pistol grip stock with a cocking lever on the underside, a pair of sling swivel studs mounted on the right, "52" on the bottom of the pistol grip and a lightly ribbed buttplate.

Rating Definition:

Excellent, with 90% plus of the original blue finish, showing some light spotting and handling marks overall, a few small dings on the receiver, and bright wear along the edges. The stock is very fine, with mild scratches and dents. Mechanically excellent. NOTE: This item is restricted as a National Firearms Act (NFA), fully transferable Class 3, which is registered with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, (BATFE) that is classified as a "Curios or Relic" as defined in 27 CFR, 478.11. These weapons are still subject to the provisions of 18 U.S.C. Chapter 44 and 27 CFR part 478.
