Two West German MG3 Machine Guns Mounts

Developed during the Cold War, and designed for use with the MG3 and MG2 machine guns (the former being a post-WWII MG42 variant, and the latter being original MG42s refitted for 7.62mm NATO ammo). 1) West German Field Mount for a MG3 Machine Gun with Optical Sight. Designed to be carried on the back of an assistant gunner, the field mount could be unfolded to serve as an adjustable tripod, as well as a mounting point for the included Hensoldt Wetzlar 4x optical periscope sight, which is marked "10/68" on the glare shield knob. Overall finish is green paint, with some red painted components, individually adjustable legs, and integral traverse and elevation hardware. When mounted, the machine gun locks into a shock-absorbing rail mount. A bubble level is integrated into the left leg hinge, and the traverse bar is dated "1/76". A case for the scope is mounted to the frame, with padding on the scope case and back leg, and a set of detachable transport straps. 2) West German Anti-Aircraft Mount for a MG3 Machine Gun. Designed to be used with a set of hanging weights for added stability, the tripod allows for rapid manual adjustment of angle and traverse for engaging moving aircraft while also being useable against ground targets with proper adjustment. Finished primarily in green paint with black components, dated "1/66" on the pintle collar with a set of adjustable legs with spring-loaded locking for angle, capable of extending up to 55 inches long. With a green canvas carry strap.

Condition1) Very fine, with some light wear and handling marks overall. The lens cap of the sight is becoming brittle, otherwise the item is in good order, with minor handling marks and clear optics. 2) Very good, with solid finish and the various adjustment hardware in good order. An excellent complimentary piece for a German machine gun collector.
