Description:

This is an outstanding example of a like-new, fully functional, full automatic Class III/NFA, M1919A4 medium machine gun, as manufactured and assembled by the RAMO company in Nashville, TN. The 1919 series of machine gun was developed right after WWI and was basically an air cooled version of the water cooled M1917 MG. Both of these weapons were designed by John Browning and proved so successful they were used through out WWII, Korea and even into Vietnam as a secondary medium machine gun. This Browning design was so easy to produce and so successful it was later the basis for the famous M2 .50 cal heavy machine gun that is still being used today. This machine gun was assembled using a new manufactured side plate, manufactured by the RAMO Company combined with some of the parts from a surplus GI parts set that were available in the early 1990s. Currently it is set up with a set of spade grip handles on the back plate (like an M37), however it also includes the standard 1919 series pistol grip back plate. The side plate is marked "SERIAL NUMBER 600044/MACHINE GUN CAL .30 M1919A4/MANUFACTURED BY/ RAMO NASHIVILLE TN./ U.S.A". Some of the various parts/assemblies, have visible GI parts numbers, some are not marked. It is fitted with the original style flip up front sight mounted on the front end of the receiver with the fully adjustable ladder style rear sight mounted on the rear of the receiver that is graduated from 100-2400 meters. This machine gun is complete with an original WWII GI M2 tripod that is stamped on the top plate "U.S.-M2-C59336". It also includes a GI style pintle adapter, for the tripod, with an original GI style traverse and elevation (T&E) mechanism, that has the drawing number "B195549" cast into the locking bar mechanism. This wonderful lot also includes ten cloth machine gun belts, carrying handle, two spare barrels, chambered for 308 and 8mm (both still wrapped up in the grease) a belt loader, two spare recoil springs and the noted pistol grip back plate.

Rating Definition:

Excellent with 98% of the original parkerized finish overall showing light wear from cycling and limited firing of the weapon . This is a great gun that is of a new manufacture that appears ready to go to the range. NOTE: This weapon is a National Firearms Act (NFA), fully transferable Class 3, which is registered with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, (BATFE) under the provisions of 18 U.S.C. Chapter 44 and 27 CFR part 478.
