Description:

Introduced in the 1990s, the G.R.A.D. (Global Research and Development) knife pistol integrates a 22 caliber double action revolver into the grip of a fighting knife, with a spring-loaded fold-out trigger and a bore running parallel to the blade. This particular example is a particularly elaborate, possibly unique custom variant, possessing features not seen on typical G.R.A.D. knives, and measures 12 1/2 inches in overall length. In contrast to the traditional single edged spear point blade with sharpened back clip, this example is outfitted with a Damascus-pattern, double edged dagger blade with a light leaf-shaped profile. The internals of the frame are typical for the G.R.A.D., though the grip panels are particularly exotic, being assembled from four pieces of precision-carved ivory (attributed by the consignor as antique in origin, but not documented), of which over half of the surface is covered in a highly-elaborate dragon motif. Constructed chiefly from sculpted and engraved gold panels, the dragon also features a silver accents on the brows, wings, tail, talons, wings and spine, emerald eyes, and numerous diamond accents among the metal, 102 in total. Yes, one-hundred and two. Included with the knife is a fine rosewood case with the G.R.A.D. logo on the lid, as well as an unlabeled shipping box.

Rating Definition:

Excellent, with over 98% of the original finish, showing some light handling marks overall. The grip panels show some minor age cracks and fine color and grain, and all of the inlays and embellishment are solid. A few light handling marks are present on the case. Mechanically very good. NOTE: This weapon is registered as a National Firearms Act (NFA), AOW (Any Other Weapon). Although NOT a fully automatic weapon it is still controlled like a NFA weapon that is registered with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, (BATFE) under the provisions of 18 U.S.C. Chapter 44 and 27 CFR part 478.
