Catalog Page: 113
Class: Curio & Relic Handgun
Description:

Manufactured between 1907 and 1915. It features standard S&W markings, matching serial numbers on the butt, cylinder, and ejector shroud, right grip panel numbered to a different gun and matching assembly numbers on the yoke and crane. Fitted with a later added post-1935 type factory rear target sight assembly and matching blade front sight. Left grip frame is stamped with a diamond denoting refinish/rework but is undated. Most S&W experts are of the opinion that the triple lock mechanism was more an expression of the ultimate in precision machine work than as a necessity for strength and function. Smith & Wesson's normal two locks provided more locking strength than their competitor Colt.

Rating Definition:

Excellent. The revolver retains 95% plus original blue finish showing slight loss at the muzzle, a cylinder drag line, speckling of patina on the grip straps and some minor scratches. Most of the original case colors remain on the hammer and trigger. The later added 1930s style grips are also excellent with crisp checkering overall. Mechanically excellent.
