Description:

Manufactured in China, the Type 53 Carbine is closely patterned after the Soviet Type 44 Mosin-Nagant Carbine, to include the signature side-folding bayonet. Though exactly how it got to Vietnam is unrecorded, it was captured in field on 13 May 1970 by SP4 Rickey E. Nichols of A Troop, 3rd Squadron, 17th Cavalry Regiment, with the appropriate war trophy registration documents included. Post front and tangent rear sights, with the "L296" arsenal mark over the "1955.2" date, with a side-folding cruciform bayonet, tan canvas sling and a straight wrist stock with a steel buttplate.-

Rating Definition:

Very good, with 30% of the arsenal refurbished blue finish, showing some mild edge wear and handling marks overall, as well as some brown discoloration on the bolt body and buttplate. The stock is good as field/arsenal repaired, with areas of filler material, a wood patch next to the trigger guard, and scattered dents and scuffs. Mechanically excellent.
