Manufactured on the same Krieghoff production line as the Luftwaffe contract P.08 sidearm, the Commercial Krieghoff is virtually identical to the military version aside from the proof markings. While a few Commercial Krieghoffs were pistols pulled out of the military production line for no obvious reason, the majority were ones that failed to meet the more stringent requirements of the military inspectors (mostly due to headspacing issues, a chronic problem with the Luger design), but were still good and serviceable pistols, which Krieghoff essentially "recycled" on the civilian market. With wartime conditions being what they were, these ex-Luftwaffe Krieghoff Lugers were among the best large caliber semi-automatic firearms that could be found on the market. Fixed sights, with a "vertical" set of "eagle/N" commercial proofs on the frame, receiver and breechblock, with the "C-3" pattern Krieghoff logo on the front toggle link and the "5-pointed star" Luftwaffe rejection mark on the right side of the extension. Small Luftwaffe proofs can be seen on several components, inside the mainspring coupling and other small parts. Matching full and partial numbers are on the extension and frame, with an unnumbered "eagle/N" barrel and matching partial numbers on multiple small parts. The Luger is fitted out with a "GELADEN" extractor and "GESICHERT" marked upper safety position, straw finished small parts, niter blue pins and springs, a pair of unmarked checkered brown grips with smooth borders and a nickel-finished magazine with a "1084" marked alloy base. Included with the pistol is a black leather flap holster, with "cey/42" and "WaA920" (K. Budischovsky, Vienna) on the back.

Fine with 70% of the blue finish, showing some bright edge wear and handling marks overall, and some mild pitting concentrated on the right refinished side rail. The grip straps, frame rails, muzzle and side plate hump are all refinished. 50% of the original straw and niter blue remains, with a mixed patina on the remainder, and particularly fiery niter blue on the right side of the magazine catch. The grips are very fine, with a few scuffs, and the holster shows some light cuts, scuffs and cracks on the exterior. Mechanically excellent.
