Description:

Manufactured very early on in the 912,000-955,000 production range noted on page 108 by Rankin in "Walther Models PP and PPK: 1929-1945", with the "D.R.P." marking engraved on the left side of the frame, believed to be the marking for the Deutsche Reichspost. Other noted specific numbers included are 912,330, 912,350, and 912,420, which is eight numbers away from this number 912,428. Established in 1871, the Deutsche Reichspost was the mail service provider for German through WW II, up until it was disestablished by the Allies in 1945. Known examples of DRP marked pistols are scarce. With the marking on this early example differing from later known examples. Fixed sights, with the Walther banner, 2 line address, model markings, and "Mod. PPK" on the left side of the slide, "crown/N" commercial proofs on the right side of the slide, chamber hood and muzzle, and the proper hand-scribed matching partial serial number on the interior. Fitted with a ring hammer, 90 degree safety, checkered brown grips and a matching extension. With an extra flat-base magazine and a black leather Albrecht Kind holster with a faint hand signature inside the flap.

Rating Definition:

Very fine, with 85% plus original blue finish, showing some bright wear along the high edges, patches of mixed brown/gray patina on the front strap, and scattered light spotting and handling marks. The grips are very good, with some light flexing along the front edges. The holster is very good, with some light cracks and scuffs. Mechanically excellent.
