Operating out of his home workshop in California, John Martz is best known for his alterations and upgrades of Luger and P-38 pistols, all of which were performed by him, often taking several months of work. Starting life as an inter-war "S/42" code 1937 date Mauser Luger pistol, the pistol has been elegantly shortened, maintaining the unique Luger profile in a more handy size, while also integrating Martz's proprietary toggle release safety system. Only around 101 Baby Lugers were produced in all calibers during Martz's career. Blade front and notch rear sights, with military proofs on the extension and toggle, and "JVM" and "124" in ovals under the side plate. Grips are attractive checkered walnut, a stock lug equipped back strap and two "JVM" marked aluminum based magazines numbered "1" and "2".

Very fine as custom made, with 98% of the custom rust blue finish, showing some mild edge wear and handling marks overall. The straw colors and niter blue are bright, with minimal wear and fading on the high points. The grips are near mint, with very sharp checkering and attractive grain and color. Mechanically excellent.
