Winchester Model 92 Saddle Ring Carbine manufactured c. 1922. This carbine is chambered for the .25-20 W.C.F. cartridge and has a rarely encountered, special order half-magazine. The 20-inch round barrel has a special order "Winchester Express" front sight with colored bead mounted in the steel block front sight base and a standard adjustable folding leaf front sight. A staple-mounted saddle ring is located on the left side of the receiver. The upper receiver tang is factory drilled and tapped. The carbine has the Winchester blue finish. The stock and forearm are straight grain American walnut with a low-luster varnish finish. The left side of the barrel is roll-stamped with the two-line legend "MANUFACTURED BY THE WINCHESTER REPEATING ARMS CO./NEW HAVEN. CONN. U.S.A. PATENTED OCTOBER 14. 1884." between the barrel band and the rear sight. The caliber designation "25-20 W.C.F." is roll-stamped on the left side of the barrel between the rear sight and the receiver. Oval Winchester "W/P" proof marks are stamped on the top of the barrel and receiver. The upper receiver tang is roll-stamped "MODEL 92/-WINCHESTER-/TRADE MARK REG. U.S. PAT OFF & FGN." in three lines using the "MODEL 92" designation adopted around serial number 900,000. The serial number is roll-stamped across the bottom of the receiver at the junction with the forearm.

Excellent. This carbine is all original and retains 98% plus bright original blue finish. Several extremely small (1/4-inch) areas of superficial rust visible on the edges of the receiver at the junction with the forearm and some faint scuff marks on the left side of the receiver from contact with the saddle ring. The barrel and receiver markings are crisp. The walnut stock and forearm are both in excellent plus condition with nearly all of the original oil finish. This is an outstanding example of a nearly new Winchester Model 92 saddle ring carbine with rare special order half magazine.
