Description:

The distinctive Bullard rifles are desirable on the collector market today due to their limited production (estimated 10,000-12,000) from 1886 to 1890. Among those limited rifles, are a large array of variations including both large and small frames, military muskets, multiple stock configurations and grades, calibers, sights, etc. making it a rich ground for hunting down particularly rare examples like this semi-deluxe large frame sporting rifle. Finding Bullard's in this high of condition is also very difficult. It has a Winchester style German silver blade front sight and notch and folding latter rear sight on the part octagon barrel, "Cal/45" on top of the receiver ring, "BULLARD REPEATING ARMS COMPANY/SPRINGFIELD MASS U.S.A. PAT. AUG. 16. 1881." on the left side of the receiver, "EA110" on the bottom, and a smooth semi-pistol grip buttstock with nice flame figure and the checkered Bullard buttplate.

Rating Definition:

Very fine with 85% plus original blue finish on the receiver, 50% of the fading original blue finish on the barrel which is turning to a smooth brown, the vast majority of the bright original case colors on the hammer and lever, and rich niter blue on the rolling block. There are some minor marks and scratches throughout and some patches of light spotting. The wood is very good and has some scattered small dents and light scratches and attractive flame figure, especially on the buttstock, and a repaired buttplate. Mechanically excellent. This is a very fine Bullard in a rare configuration.
