Description:

Manufactured in 1900 as a third model with the integral dust cover guide rail and a dust cover with serrated grasping grooves on the tail. It has carbine sights with the rear sight graduated from 1 to 9 on a barrel marked with the two-line address/patent dates and "44 W.C.F.," saddle ring mounted on the left side of the receiver, "MODEL 1873" flanked by floral flourishes on the upper tang, the serial number on the lower tang, "44 CAL" marked on the brass cartridge elevator and carbine buttplate featuring a trapdoor (cleaning rod not included). .

Rating Definition:

Fine. The carbine retains 60% original blue finish with the balance a smooth brown patina. There are some minor-moderate scratches on the receiver. The wood is very good with a 1 1/2 inch long hairline crack near the upper tang, two notches on the comb, a filled sling swivel hole near the toe and some minor scratches and dings. Mechanically excellent.
