Model 5A manufactured in 1862. Features a post front sight, "ADDRESS COL COLT/NEW-YORK, U.S.A." and "OWBB" (significance unknown) on the top of the barrel, "PATENTED SEPT. 10th 1855" in one cylinder flute, and "31 CAL" vertically above the hammer screw.

Very good plus with 25% bright original high polish blue finish concentrated in the protected areas, strong original niter blue on many of the screws, traces of original case colors, light gray and brown patina on the balance, some grinding on the left side of the barrel lug and edges of the chambers (one of which has been battered on the forward portion), and light marks and scratches. The grip is very fine and has some minor edge wear, light scratches, and strong original varnish. Mechanically excellent.
