Description:

Most of the U.S. contract New Model Army revolvers were manufactured in 1863-1865, but the model remained in production until 1875. They were the second most widely issued revolvers of the Civil War after only Colt's Model 1860 Army, and continued to be used during the settlement of the West and the late 19th century Indian Wars. It has standard markings and features, small inspection markings, an "OWA" cartouche on the left grip, and matching serial numbers on the barrel, grip frame, and grips. "M+M" is carved on the backside of the right grip.

Rating Definition:

Fine with 60% original blue finish on the cylinder, 25% original blue finish on the barrel, patches of original blue on the frame, mostly smooth gray patina on the balance, some patches of light oxidation/pitting, and aged patina on the brass. The left grip is fine with a legible but lightly stamped cartouche and mild edge wear. The right panel is fine and has some chips out of the lower edge. Mechanically excellent.
