Description:

In preparation for Rollin White's patent expiration in 1869, engineers at Colt and Remington set about converting existing percussion revolver designs for use with metallic cartridges. Remington had already begun manufacturing revolvers using William H. Elliott's rimfire cylinder designs in 1866. The barrel has the three-line New Model legend and is numbered to the gun. Small letter "D"s and "W"s are stamped on the barrel and frame. An ejector rod is mounted on the right side. The hammer has a centerfire firing pin. It has a full nickel finish.

Rating Definition:

Fine. The revolver retains 50% original nickel finish with a smooth gray patina on the balance. There is some minor pitting (heavier on the cylinder). The grips are very good showing some minor pressure dents and scratches. Mechanically excellent.
