Description:

Most of the U.S. contract New Model Army revolvers were manufactured in 1863-1865, but the model remained in production until 1875. They were the second most widely issued revolvers of the Civil War (after only Colt's Model 1860 Army) and continued to be used during the settlement of the West and the late 19th century Indian Wars. It has standard Remington markings, small letter inspection markings, barrel and grips numbered to the gun and a script letter cartouche on the left grip panel.

Rating Definition:

Very good plus. The revolver retains 25% original blue finish (strongest on the frame) with the balance a mottled gray patina. There is light pitting on the barrel. The grips are fine with numerous moderate pressure dents on the bottoms, a repair on the right panel near the bottom and a couple missing surface chips. The cartouche is barely legible. Mechanically excellent.
