Description:

Approximately 8,000 Model 1864 or "Second Model" carbines were purchased by the U.S. government on contract with the Joslyn Fire Arms Company. They were among the better weapons issued to the Union cavalry. It has the standard markings and features, including matching serial numbers.

Rating Definition:

Very good plus with dark brown patina and moderate overall pitting. The stock is fine with mild edge wear on the forend, a divot out of the right side of the butt, various scrapes and dings, and distinct cartouches. Mechanically excellent.
