Description:

Only 2,020 of these carbines were manufactured in 1837 to 1840. They were used by the 2nd U.S. Dragoons in the Seminole Wars, and some were used during the Civil War. The fight against the Seminoles from 1816 to 1858 was the longest and most expensive Indian conflict in U.S. history. This example is dated "1839" on the breechblock and has standard markings and features, including a ramrod style bayonet. The Model 1833 and 1836 Hall carbines were the first percussion arms adopted by the U.S. military and the first to use a ramrod bayonet.

Rating Definition:

Very fine with 80% plus original brown finish, subtle case colors on the breechblock, and mostly gray patina on the balance. The fine stock has numerous minor scrapes, dings, and chips from use. Mechanically excellent. You will look a long time to find a finer example of a rare U.S. Model 1836 carbine!
