Description:

The 34,000 Burnside Rifle Co. Spencers were manufactured late in the Civil War and early in the post-war era. Nearly all were used to fulfill government contracts. Many were used well into the late 19th century, and they were particularly popular with Native Americans on the Great Plains and in the Southwest. This example has the standard markings, a blade front sight, notch and folding ladder rear sight, and the Stabler magazine cut-off.

Rating Definition:

Good with mottled brown patina and mild pitting. The refinished replacement wood is also good and has some rounding at the edges, a thin repaired crack in the butt, and some scrapes and small dents. Mechanically fine.
