Manufactured in 1898, the sporting Winchester-Lee was built around the same receiver as the U.S. Navy contract Lee rifle and with many of the same features. Beaded blade front sight with 1899 dated hood and a folding ladder 2000-yard rear sight, with the two line address and patent dates on the left side of the receiver, and properly without any military markings or cartouches. Smooth pistol grip stock with a bayonet lug and stacking swivel on the front band, a "1903" dated Rock Island Arsenal brown leather sling, three sling swivels and a smooth steel buttplate (compartment empty).

Excellent with 95% plus of the original blue finish, showing mild spotting and a few areas of brown patina. The stock is also excellent with a few scuffs and dents. The sling is very fine. Mechanically excellent.
