Description:

Offered here is a highly attractive example of a Remington Model 1875 single action revolver in desirable .44-40 caliber. The Model 1875 was Remington's attempt to compete with the Colt Single Action Army revolver. Only 25,000 Model 1875s were manufactured between 1875 and 1889 and many saw hard use in the Old West. This example was clearly well taken care of over the years. The top of the barrel is marked with the one-line address, and the left side of the trigger guard is marked "44," indicating .44-40 caliber. The three digit serial number is found on the left side of the grip frame. Fitted with nicely figured walnut grips.

Rating Definition:

Excellent. The revolver retains 90% plus original nickel finish showing some mild flaking and some loss on the lower back strap. There is some typical moderate pitting on the front face of the cylinder. The grips are also excellent showing a few minor pressure dents and scratches and retaining most of the finish. Mechanically excellent. A highly desirable .44-40 caliber Model 1875 revolver that will make a great addition to any antique Remington or Old West collection.
